Breastfeeding Position: Side-Lying

By | April 27, 2012

Breastfeeding while lying down is one of the greatest things I have learned as a mom. This position is my secret why I never felt deprived of sleep. It allowed me to sleep when my baby sleeps. All I have to do is face my baby, face her to me, and there, we are feeding.

Here is what you need to do to attain this position.

1. While you and your baby are lying down on the bed, face each other side to side.

2. Put pillows on you head and on you back. Put pillows on your baby’s back too.

3. Adjust your baby’s position so the mouth is lined up with your nipple.

This breastfeeding position is great for moms who underwent Cesarean birth.

This position works best for babies who already have a good latch.

This position may be a little challenging for younger and little babies since we need to maneuver their head for a good latch-on.
